October 2024 Release Notes

The summer is over and we hope you had a good one! With the fall, pumpkin spice, and holiday season upon us, gears are definitely shifting in the gaming industry. Of course, getting to this point required diligent work even throughout the summer, and at Affogata it’s been exciting to collaborate with many of you who have been cooking 🙂 and with good reason! Fall is historically a pretty good time for game releases, especially but not only for established franchises. For instance, in November 1994 the first Warcraft game was released. It was a milestone for the Real Time Strategy genre, popularizing it and showing the potential of multiplayer. Ten years later, in November 2004? That’s when World of Warcraft was released, taking the multiplayer experience global. Ten years later, in 2014 … the fifth expansion set for World of Warcraft. Who says we aren’t moving forward as an industry? 😉
We’ve been cooking quite a bit ourselves if we may dare so, and with so much new stuff we thought this is a great time to share the latest and greatest with you.Since there’s much to go through, we’ll sort it into big, medium, and small things. Such is life – sometimes you break new ground, and sometimes you release that fifth expansion set … but it’s all designed to enable, empower, and delight.

Big Updates

  1. Affogata Helper, your famous AI Analyst that helps you explore, research, and summarize player & user feedback, now has additional skills using Affogata. One unique benefit of Helper is that it lives inside the Affogata platform, accessing all of Affogata’s data and querying capabilities. It now performs searches, retrieves relevant data, and answers complex research questions. It will also cross-reference feedback quotes to help you view them at the source—no hallucination here!
  2. The Helper can now analyze Support Ticket data. If you use a ticketing platform and haven’t connected it to Affogata yet, reach out!
  3. Design changes on Dashboard: Widgets are reordered for seamless use, and the new “Compact Layout” mode shows popular widgets in a more streamlined view.
  4. Enhanced support for Discord Forums and semantics throughout the platform.
  5. General Availability of the API.

Medium Updates

  1. Conversation Clusters now have an AI-generated longer description in the Convo Cluster CSV Export for more depth on each cluster. Check out the ‘Example Posts’ column for impactful posts in a specific cluster!Cluster Example
  2. Conversation Clusters also have a new list view, allowing for easier theme searching and grouping similar clusters.Cluster List View
  3. The Conversation Clusters algorithm is improved for better data results—confirmed by your positive feedback 💪😎.
  4. A new Notification Feed alerts you to items requiring human attention, such as data source authentication issues, with more features planned.
  5. Helper is now available in more areas on the platform, offering contextual snapshot reporting via AI.
  6. The new Demographics widget provides a breakdown of languages and countries (where available) in the dataset.

Small Updates

  1. Numerous UI improvements, including better dashboard search, save search dialog updates, drill-down capability from Total Data Points, built-in LaTeX display in Helper, improved Discord emoji display, sorting by change in the Top Keywords widget, and much more.
  2. Improved Group By Theme mode in the Trending Keywords widget for greater intuitiveness.
  3. Enhanced CSV format across exports.
  4. Zendesk improvements, including support for Organization metadata and app profiles.

So, What Are We Cooking Now?

As Player Insights evolve, our mission is to stay at the cutting edge of integrating this data into a studio’s entire data strategy. Two initiatives are underway:

  1. Integrating business metrics into Affogata, providing a “data infrastructure in a box” for deducing how player sentiment impacts business.
  2. Direct data access to Affogata, allowing mature data stacks to connect to Affogata through tools like PowerBI, Tableau, or Jupyter Notebook, offering distilled insights from unstructured data sources.

We’d love to hear your feedback—let us know how we can enable, empower, and delight!
