March 2025 Release Notes

Hello there,

Can you believe it’s almost March?! We hope you got used to the annual digit change by now 🙂

First things first, March here means GDC is almost here as well 🙂 For those attending, we’d love to meet in person. Hit reply and let us know! We’re also hosting our Community Clubhouse event within GDC, where you hang out with other Player Experience professionals for practitioner-focused sessions. We’d love to have you.

5 years ago, around this time of year, we were collectively becoming aware of this thing called Covid. Yet, most of us probably didn’t expect the full impact of it – what can fairly be described as a “new era”. While it is not for us to discuss broadly, within the confines of our gaming universe this was a meaningful moment: With people spending more time at home, gaming as a pastime grew – and our industry with it. Of course, binges usually end with headaches, and some over-investment of that era led to pains we’re still experiencing as people in this industry today. as we together adapt to a more normal reality, an adjustment which sadly impacts many people and teams in the industry.

With the new year in full force and spring not too far off (did anyone say “GDC”?), this isn’t a bad time to take a moment, reflect on all that’s been, and hope we see more prosperity sprouting for everyone that’s part of our industry or touched by it. Let us hope 2025 marks the end of the post-Covid adjustment period, and that we together enter another era of growth!

With that – we have many product updates to share. Following are a few highlights of what’s new in Affogata since you’ve last heard from us:

Shareable Dashboards: Do you sometimes want to share insights from Affogata with a colleague who’s not an Affogata user, or just as a link anyone in your company can access? This is what Shared Dashboards are for! You can create custom-named & designed dashboards, accessible with an easy link for anyone you wish to share insights with.

Affogata Helper Optimizations: As our AI assistant Affogata Helper keeps evolving, beyond the ever-wisening backend, it has won some nice UX touches that should help you receive and consume the insights more easily. Among them, a new snazzy inline quote/image of specific player feedback data points that Helper chooses to highlight, and a better UX for editing and saving the pinned questions – allowing you the ability to fine tune a ‘general’ prompt to something more specific, which is the ideal move if you want to produce custom reporting or focused insights.

Improvements to Dashboard Graph: We’ve introduced many improvements to what we affectionately call the Hero Graph over in the dashboard. It now features easier toggling of the data series on display, smarter display axes so trends in different series are clear at any scale, and most importantly – it can now show reach and engagement stats, alongside the pre-existing sentiment and volume displays!

How To section: We’ve introduced a new section, our How To. Intentionally minimalistic, the idea is to illustrate how to accomplish key tasks or jobs in Affogata. We want to keep it focused and clear – no arduous articles here! We’re already working on additions to the section, so if there’s anything specific you’d like us to address, please let us know by replying to this email!

Demographics Widget: We’ve added a new widget to the dashboard to illustrate the languages and countries of the chosen dataset. As you all know, Affogata is privacy-focused and we only show country data where the platform explicitly provides it, which means it won’t always be available & the data shown will be a small sample, but indicative of the population. That said, when it is (for instance, ticketing software, mobile app reviews, etc), it can be seriously useful!

TikTok Profiles: Affogata now supports live monitoring of TikTok profiles in addition to the already existing ability to pull videos by hashtags

More: As usual, there are a slew of different touches and improvements throughout the platform. One small tweak that we personally like – searches with time specified in their filters will open with that chosen timeframe in Helper & Dashboard. This little tweak should make it easier to save searches that are focused on a live op or a marketing campaign, and load up these searches in Helper and the Dashboard for getting insights (without fussing around with the chosen timeframe every time).

Also as usual, much more is coming down the pike but we want to reemphasize the Data Science innovations we are working on. Please reach out to us if you want to democratize your work across your organization!

  • The first – being able to integrate your business metrics into Affogata. This basically gives a “data infrastructure” in a box – directly being able to deduce, analyze, and draw data-based conclusions on how fine-grained player sentiment is driving (or not driving) business impact. Imagine the ability to connect how customers feel directly to the delta in DAU with zero effort. Imagine no more!
  • The second – direct data access to Affogata itself. Designed for organizations with a more mature data stack, it allows you to basically connect to Affogata like any other data source. Do you have data users or analysts who use primarily PowerBI? Tableau? Jupyter Notebook? No matter the tool – you can hook it up directly to Affogata and work directly with distilled insights from the myriad of unstructured data sources it covers. Who needs a limited, structured API when you can just query a database with complete flexibility & zero setup.

Enough said for now, but hit us up if you are data savvy and want to hear more 🙂
